Seven Lives For the Emperor

Devised by Joshua Kreis McTiernan

The year is 1960 and Otoya Yamaguchi, a 17-year-old right wing nationalist, assassinates Inejiro Asanuma with a samurai sword on live television in front of the entire country of Japan. Three weeks later Yamaguchi hangs himself in his cell. These events provide the springboard for an exploration of youth, idealism, bondage, honor and, ultimately, love beyond measure. Kamikazes, classic Japanese horror films, and bodies collide in a search for the connection between pain and sex, youth and age, love and hate.
